About Me

Teaching the Next Generation

I’ve always found joy in learning. In fact, I have been going to school most of my life, and now, in my 34th year of teaching, I don't see that ending any time soon. I like to think that I am an example of how learning can be a lifelong, exciting experience. I earned a BA in English Literature from the University of Kentucky in 1989 and a teaching license from Morehead State University in 7-12 English Language Arts in 1990. I then completed both a MS in Technology from Morehead State University and National Board Certification in 2005. After yearly training and teaching AP English courses for 20 years, I switched gears again and began teaching College Credit Plus courses. This change required 18 additional graduate hours in English, which led to me finishing another master's degree this fall. Currently, I am putting the finishing touches on my master's thesis in Rhetoric & Writing from University of Findlay, which I will defend in December.

In each course I teach, I work hard to create an engaging, eye-opening and challenging classroom environment - one that will help my students expand their horizons and push their boundaries. I appreciate my students’ feedback and welcome an open dialogue in each and every class. Get in touch for more information about my experience or the courses I teach.
